Workshops and Tutorials

A number of workshops and tutorials will be organized in parallel with the conference. Please check this page for news.

Renewable energy sources: from theory to technological developments and industry applications

Participants from universities, industrial companies and utilities are invited to debate the last achievements in large area field of energy conversion and renewable energy sources.

The main aspects will focus, but not limited, on:
1. New probabilistic models of wind and solar electricity primary sources.
2. Presentation of ECRS - Energy Conversion and Renewable Sources Laboratory of Power Engineering Department of “Gheorghe Asachi” Technical University of Iasi.
3. Heat pumps: new technical trends and technological developments.
4. Practical solutions, technical results and economics related to renewable energy sources utilization.

Moderators:
Professor Florin Munteanu, MSc, PhD
Senior Lecturer Ciprian Nemes, MSc, PhD

Modern Technologies for Electricity Networks

The workshop is intended to complement the main topics of the conference in areas of Modern Power Systems, being directed towards researchers and practitioners from universities, industry, electricity utilities, research and design institutes and the power system community as a whole. The purpose is to generate impact for the progress of research in areas such as:

- Information and communication technology for modern power systems
- Power system automation and protection
- Power quality and reliability
- Smart Grids
- New electricity market perspectives
- Power system optimization
- Load profiling, smart metering and demand response

The workshop is supported by IRE – Energetica. Papers presented at the workshop will be published in Energetica Journal (indexed in Index Copernicus)

EPE 2012 Second International Workshop on Electromagnetic Compatibility and Engineering in Medicine and Biology

Undoubtedly, the first edition of this workshop, organized in 2010, was a significant success. Additionally to this accomplishment, the up-to-date development of the domain is the main arguments for going on.
The aim of the workshop, having the central theme in close connection with almost all other topics of the Conference, is to bring together scientists, engineers, manufacturers and users from all over the world to discuss common theoretical and practical problems, describe scientific and commercial applications and explore avenues for future research in the area of Electromagnetic Compatibility, ESD and Engineering in Medicine and Biology.
The purpose of the workshop is to produce effects or at least to expand ideas in the following areas:

- EMC: measurement, instrumentation and testing
- Modeling/simulation and computational electromagnetic
- EMC for medical devices and human exposure
- Electromagnetic environment
- EMC in electrical engineering and power systems
- EMC in electronic devices and radio communications
- Electrostatic discharge (ESD)

The fees, the rules and the possibilities for publication are the same as for the EPE 2012 Conference.

EPE 2012 International Workshop on Engineering Education and History of Electrical Engineering

This workshop aspires to expand the already established tradition of the IEEI Conference on Engineering Education and History of the Electrical Engineering, which started in 2006 and has continued in 2008 and 2010.
At the last edition, the organizing Faculty of Electrical Engineering celebrated its Centennial. In 2012 we have to mark and feast the 100-th anniversary of the Iasi Electrical Institute and of the first professional organization of the Romanian electrical engineers.
Only if we know our past experiences and developments, we can prospect our future. The perspectives of the tertiary level of education in engineering are a very generous field of debates, complementary with modern approaches and technologies. Main actors or just stakeholders, coming from academic and industry communities, could be involved in fruitful debates, could present interesting and original research results or just proposals.

The fees, the rules and the possibilities for publication are the same as for the EPE 2012 Conference.

Workshop chair: Assoc Professor Radu Ursulean (ursulean@ee.tuiasi.ro)
