Dr. Fabrizio Clemente

Bio

Dr. Fabrizio Clemente, is Senior Researcher at ISIB-CNR, Rome and Lecturer of Measurements for Quality Control at University of Naples "Federico II", Faculty of Engineering (2004-2012)
His current scientific interests are in Electrical Properties of Biological Tissues (electrical impedance myography, bone ingrowth, drug delivery), Cardiovascular Engineering ( arterial pulse wave monitor from piezo and US sensors, monitor for mechanical assisted circulation and ventilation, patient monitor, cardiovascular modelling) and Quality in Medicine and Health Care (measure of performance in Intensive Care Units – ICU).
Dr. Clemente is also active in technology transfer. Promotes two spin off companies: Timshel (founder, Chairman and CEO)  and and Innovum Biomedical (scientific responsible in presentation and approval at of MATSI Project: measurement and control of drug absorption in instrumental transdermal therapies using EIS).
Dr. Clemente has authored 100 publications in international journal and peer reviewed conferences Proceedings.


Prof. Gianfranco Chicco

Title: Optimization and Decision-Making in Electrical Distribution Networks

Bio

Professor Gianfranco Chicco graduated in Electrotechnics Engineering (honors) in 1987 at Politecnico di Torino (PdT), Italy, and obtained the Ph.D. in Electrotechnics Engineering in 1992. He is Professor of Electric Energy Systems at PdT. He is the President of the University Academic Planning Council in Electrical Engineering at PdT. In 2003 he was a Member of the Administration Board of the PdT and of its “Budget and Accounting Management” and “Personnel Management” Commissions. In April-May 1999 he was a Visiting Assistant Professor at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign, Electrical and Computer Engineering Department, Urbana, IL. In the period 2001-2012 he visited Politehnica University of Bucharest, Valahia University of Targoviste, and Technical University of Iasi (Romania) under the Erasmus/Socrates Staff Exchange Programmes.
He has been the scientific responsible and coordinator of projects on energy resource deployment and sustainability, and participated in several other projects funded by national and European grants. He has been the Conference Chairman and Editor of the Proceedings of the Sixth World Energy System Conference (WESC), Torino, Italy, 10-12 July 2006, and a Conference co-Chair of WESC in Iaşi (2008), Targoviste (2010), and Suceava (2012). He has been a Member of the Technical Committee of the IEEE Conferences Melecon 2006, (Benalmádena, Spain), Melecon 2008 (Ajaccio, France), and Melecon 2010 (Valletta, Malta), a Track co-Chair of the Technical Program Committee TPC5 (Power Electrical Systems) for IEEE Melecon 2008, and Conference Session Chairman in various international Conferences.
Since 2011 he is an Associate Editor of the Energy journal (Elsevier). He has been the co-Guest Editor of the WESC Special Issues for the journals Energy (2006 and 2010) and Electric Power Systems Research (2006). He is a peer-Reviewer of various international journals published by IEEE, IET, Elsevier, and others.
He has been the responsible and lecturer of three courses offered to Doctoral students at PdT (Characterization and planning of small-scale multigeneration systems, Distributed generation in electrical systems, Electrical load forecasting and management). He has been the tutor or co-tutor of ten Doctoral students in Electrical Engineering, and of over 100 students preparing the M.S. thesis in Electrical Engineering or Management Engineering. He taught several institutional courses for the Electrical, Management and Civil Engineering study degrees.
His International scientific production includes one book, four book chapters, over 40 journal publications, and over 120 publications in conference proceedings.
He is a Senior Member of the IEEE Power and Energy Society, a Member of the Italian Federation of Electrotechnics, Electronics, Automation, Informatics and Telecommunications (AEIT), and a registered professional Engineer in the Province of Torino, Italy.


Prof. Giuseppe Marco Tina

Bio

Professor Giuseppe Marco Tina graduated in Electrotechnics Engineering  in 1988 at University of Catania (UdC)  Italy, and obtained the Ph.D. in Electrotechnics Engineering in 1992. He is associate Professor of Electric Energy Systems at UdC.  In 1992 he was guest staff member in Newcastle University (U.K.). From 1993 to 1996 he has been working in the industry with Agip Refineries and ST Microelectronics in Italy, as electrical engineer responsible for electrical facilities operation and maintenance. In 2002 he was associate researcher for INFN ( National Institute for Nuclear Physics), sited in Catania, Italy. In 2009 he was visiting professor in the Universitè de Corse Pascal Paoli (France).  He is a peer-reviewer of various international journals published by IEEE, IET, Elsevier, and others. He has been the tutor or co-tutor of seven Doctoral students in Electrical Engineering, and of over 50 students preparing the M.S. thesis in Electrical Engineering or Management Engineering. He taught several institutional courses for the Electrical, Mechanical Engineering study degrees. His International scientific production includes 35 journal publications, and over 100 publications in conference proceedings. He is responsible of power system research group at Udc. He is a Member of the IEEE Power and Energy Society, he is vice-president of the section of Catania of the Italian Federation of Electrotechnics, Electronics, Automation, Informatics and Telecommunications (AEIT), and a registered professional Engineer in the Province of Catania, Italy.


Dr. Goran Radosavljevic

Title:  Wireless Resonant Sensors Realized in LTCC-technology for Monitoring of Physical Parameters

Bio

Dr Goran Radosavljević was born in 1979 in Slavonski Brod, Croatia. He studied electrotechnical sciences at Faculty of Technical Sciences, University of Novi Sad, Serbia and obtained his diploma engineer title in 2005. Dr Radosavljević continued his education and started research in the field of microelectronics, microelectronic technologies, RF passive components and microsensors, and obtained magister and PhD title with honors in 2008 and 2010, respectively. Starting from 2006 he is employed at the Faculty of Technical Sciences, University of Novi Sad, first as a research assistant and later on as a research advisor. During his postgraduate work and education Dr Radosavljević had professional training at several European institutes and laboratories (ISAS, Vienna and SATIE laboratory, Paris) and actively worked on many European and domestic scientific projects. He authored/co-authored more than 50 scientific papers presented at conferences and published in scientific journals. Dr Radosavljević has been awarded as the best young researcher in ETRAN 2007 conference in 2007. Several of his papers have been awarded (IMAPS 2007, IMAPS 2009 and EPE-PEMC 2010). Since December 2010 he is leader of the Ceramic Electronics Packaging & Interconnection Technology Laboratory at the Department of Applied Electronic Materials, Institute of Sensor and Actuator Systems, Vienna University of Technology.


Prof. Pasquale Daponte

Bio

Pasquale Daponte (IEEE M’ 91 – SM’ 99 – FM’ 09) was born in Minori (SA), Italy, on March 7, 1957. He obtained his bachelor's degree and master's degree "cum laude" in Electrical Engineering in 1981 from University of Naples, Italy. He is a Full Professor of Digital Signal Processing and Measurement Information at University of Sannio - Benevento.
He is President Elected of IMEKO, member of: Board of the Association “Gruppo Misure Elettriche ed Elettroniche, AdCom of IEEE Instrumentation and Measurement Society; Editorial Board of the Measurement Journal - Elsevier Publisher; IEC SC47A “Semiconductor Devices”; Working Group of the IEEE Instrumentation and Measurement Technical Committee N°10 Subcommittee of the Waveform Measurements and Analysis Committee and Past-Editor of the IEEE Standard 1658 "Standard for Terminology and Test Methods for Digital-to-Analog Converters"; Italian Electrical Engineering Association; Societas Internationalis pro Diagnostica Ultrasonica in Opthalmologia.
He has organised national or international meetings in the field of Electronic Measurements and European co-operation and he was General Chairman of the IEEE Instrumentation and Measurement Technical Conference for 2006.
Professor Daponte is Vice Rector for PhD and Post Master Programmes of the University of Sannio and took active part in several European projects.
He has published more than 240 scientific papers in journals and at national and international conferences on the following subjects: ADC and DAC Modelling and Testing, Digital Signal Processing, Distributed Measurement Systems.
In 1987 he received from the Italian Society of Oftalmology (SOI) the prize SOI for the studies on the digital signal processing of the ultrasounds in echo-oftalmology.
He received the Laurea Honoris Causa in Electrical Engineering from Technical University “Gheorghe Asachi" of Iasi (Romania).


Dr. Octavian Postolache

Title:  Pervasive and Mobile Sensing and Computing. Technical and Social Issues

Bio

Dr. Octavian Adrian Postolache graduated in Electrical Engineering at the Gh. Asachi Technical University of Iasi, Romania, in 1992. He received the PhD degree in Electrical Engineering from the Faculty of Electrical Engineering, Gh. Asachi Technical University in 1999. During 1992-2000 he worked as an Assistant Professor and Senior Lecturer at Department of Electrical Measurements and Electrical Materials, Faculty of Electrical Engineering, Gh. Asachi Technical University. In 2000 he received post-doctoral researcher fellowship from Portuguese Science and Technology Foundation. Since 2000 he works as a researcher at Technical University of Lisbon/ IST and Institute of Telecommunication of Lisbon. He is Principal Researcher at Institute of Telecommunication, since 2005. He joined as Assistant Professor at Superior School of Technology/EST-IPS from Setubal since 2001 and from January 2012, as Senior Lecturer in School of Architecture and Information Technology/ISCTE-IUL, Lisbon.
His fields of interests are smart sensors for biomedical and environmental measurement systems, virtual measurement systems, data sensor fusion, instrumentation networks, signal processing of biomedical data for health status and instrumental activity estimation, non-destructive testing and diagnosis based on eddy currents, computational intelligence with application in automated measurement systems. He is currently leader of project regarding the implementation of Electronic Health Records for the Wheelchair Users. He worked as a board member of Institute of Telecommunications – Portuguese Telecommunication Agency for Innovation (PT Inovação) - Home TeleCare project; and Institute of Telecommunications and National Communication Agency (ANACOM) - Integrated Spectrum Monitoring project. He was also involved in the project related to development of novel sensors for adequate anesthesia assessment, working in collaboration with Institute of Mechanical Engineering (IDMEC) and Hospital Geral de Santo António, SA (HGSA) from Porto, Portugal. He collaborated also in several researches at Institute of Physiology, Medical Faculty of the University of Lisbon.
Dr. Postolache is author and co-author of 10 patents, 3 books, 12 book chapters, 53 papers in international journals with peer review, more than 180 papers in proceedings of international conferences.
He is IEEE Senior Member I&M Society, Technical Adviser of IEEE EMBS Portugal Chapter, member of International Measurement Confederation. He was member of IMEKO World Congress Organizing Commitee, 2009. He was co-chair of Sensornets 2012, Rome, Italy and chair of Pervasive HealthCare Workshop, 2012, USA, SanDiego. He is member of steering commitee of Medical Measurement and Application Simposium. He is regular  member of Technical Comittee of IEEE IMTC,  IEEE MeMeA and IEEE ICST. He is active member of IEEE IMS TC-25 Subcommittee on Objective Blood Pressure Measurement Standard.
